Trust the Pros for Tricky Commercial Roof Replacements

While a residential roof can usually be repaired or replaced in a single day, commercial roofs are often trickier. They’re typically larger than residential roofs, tend to have more openings, and are often more complicated to install. That’s why businesses should work with a roofer they can trust, like A.O. Roofing Services.

An example of a commercial roof we replaced is the project we recently completed for the MRI building at 180 Ave. A SE in Winter Haven. They had a 9,500 square feet roof that needed to be replaced, and we wasted no time in helping them out. Check out the before and after pictures below!

BEFORE

The original roof used modified bitumen. This is a common and popular option for flat roofs that has been in use since the 1960s. It uses asphalt membranes with polymerized rubber or plastic which is then reinforced with fiberglass, making the material durable and flexible. However, they have a fairly short lifespan and absorb a lot of heat.

AFTER

We tore off the old modified bitumen roof and replaced it with 60mil TPO. TPO stands for “ThermoPlastic Polyolefin.” This is a newer material, first introduced in the 1990s, and it provides a number of advantages over modified bitumen. They provide higher UV resistance (with many of them Energy Star and/or Cool Roof Rating Council rated), can last up to 30 years with proper maintenance, and offer a wider range of color options.

In addition to replacing the roof with TPO, we also installed new black metal coping along the perimeter. We also added a tapered system along the walls where the AC units are located. This roof replacement was a big project and we worked quickly without sacrificing quality. From start to finish, this roof took us about two weeks to complete.
