Congratulations! You’ve officially decided to get your roof replaced, and you’ve contracted the pros at A.O. Roofing Services to get the job done. Because we specialize in roof replacements right here in Central Florida, we do most of the hard work to prepare. However, there are a few things you can do on your end to make the experience as smooth as possible.
Here are important tips to help your roof replacement go off without a hitch.
1. Protect exterior decorations, furniture, and plants.
While our roofers do their best to stay tidy, it still may be possible for dust, roof fragments, and nails to fall from the roof during a replacement. To prevent damage, move outdoor furniture, decorations, and potted plants away from your home or into a shed or garage. For garden beds and other valuables that can’t be moved, cover them with a cloth for protection.
2. Move fragile items somewhere safe.
Replacing a roof involves impacts from hammers and nail guns that can shake your home, potentially knocking picture frames off walls and decorations off of shelves. To keep these items safe, temporarily move them somewhere safe where they won’t be at risk of falling.
3. Make sure your driveway is clear.
Be sure to clear your driveway and park cars in the street beforehand. That way, the roofers will have space for things like equipment and dumpsters.
4. Prepare your family.
The noise and dust of a roof replacement can be jarring for your family, especially kids and pets. Plus, kids and pets won’t be able to play outside until the roof replacement is finished. Have a plan to get kids and pets out of the house for the day, or if this isn’t possible, explain the situation to children, and have things on hand like toys and treats to keep pets calm.
By following these steps, you’ll be well prepared for your roof replacement, and your roofers will appreciate your attention to detail. If you want to know more about the process or have any other questions, don’t be afraid to ask! Contact A.O. Roofing today to get started.
