A homeowner in Lakeland contacted our A.O. Roofing team, needing their old roof replaced because their insurance company required the update to stay insured. Seeing more leaks in the ceiling, they asked us about a more durable, long-lasting, and energy-efficient solution.
Did The Roof Have Any Damage?
This 3,100-square-foot home had an aging architectural shingled roof. During our inspection, we found no significant damage. However, as shown in the photos below, it was a very weathered roof with the potential of not protecting the home during a severe storm much longer.
Rather than waiting for unseen costly repairs due to no insurance coverage, the homeowner chose a proactive approach. Doing so would secure their home with high-quality materials that provide long-lasting durability and superior performance.

Atlas Architectural Shingles: Built to Last
When the homeowner was shown their options, they selected Atlas Architectural Shingles in a Hearthstone color with a black drip edge. It is a high-wind-resistant, impact-rated roofing system designed just for the extreme weather conditions Polk County experiences.
An ice and water shield underlayment was also installed to prevent further leaking by creating an additional moisture barrier. This feature increases waterproofing and improves energy efficiency, reducing heat buildup inside the home.
Here Is How We Improved Ventilation
Proper attic ventilation guarantees the new roofing shingles and underlayment last longer, prevents excess moisture, and improves indoor climate control.
For those reasons, our team installed an Attic Breeze solar fan, as shown in the picture below. This fan helps reduce attic temperatures, preventing heat buildup in the summer and lowering cooling costs.
